Hepatic Insulin Clearance

Hepatic Insulin Clearance controls the amount of insulin that reaches other organs. The impairment of such control is related to Type 2 Diabetes and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. This event is dependent on the insulin receptor capacity and on intracellular insulin processing. We are unveiling these processes by addressing it at both steps and how inflammation affects it.

Insulin degrading enzyme (IDE) is a key player in this process but the mechanism is undisclosed. Our commitment is to better understand the role of IDE on insulin clearance and how it is linked to the deterioration of glucose homeostasis, fatty liver disease and sub-clinical inflammatory processes.
